✨Artist Spotlight✨ Sabine Meyer is a German clarinetist who has had a dazzling solo career, playing with top orchestras and musicians across the globe. Sabine is one of the first clarinetists I listened to as a young musician and she has continued to inspire my performing and teaching to this day. Sabine was appointed to the Berlin Philharmonic in 1982 as one of the first woman members, causing controversy within the orchestra. After a short nine month probation period with the Berlin Philharmonic, the orchestra voted against hiring her full time. For some, this was a direct result of sexism within the orchestra, which was all men at the time. After her probation with the Phil ended, she took off on a spectacular solo career that lasted over four decades. Sabine is a true role model for her strength and tenacity in persevering through hardships and I encourage all students to look towards her when overcoming obstacles in their own music careers. My favorite recording of hers is Weber, Clarinet Concerto No. 1 on her album Sabine Meyer spielt Weber. #sabinemeyer #clarinetist #rolemodel
I work with many first time students and although it can seem intimidating to start, the first lesson is structured to get you feeling excited for your new journey! Here’s what to expect: 🎶 You will learn to put your instrument together and I will ensure it is in good working condition 🎶 I will introduce and model the correct playing position and you will play your first notes 🎶 We will begin working on exercises from a method book 🎶 We will make an action plan that will help you reach your goals! Starting a new instrument is an amazing experience and my job as your teacher is to provide a safe and encouraging space for you to grow.
